The life journey of Dr. Christoppher D. Stackhouse Sr. is a testament to faith in God and service to community. At the age of 15, he delivered his first sermon on his mother’s birthday. His ministry calling was nurtured under the guidance of his father and pastoral mentors.
Pastor Stackhouse’s educational path is a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina A&T State University, followed by theological studies at Wake Forest University for his Master of Divinity, and then a Doctorate in Ministry from United Theological Seminary.
After leading 2 wonderful congregations, in 2016 Pastor Stackhouse became the senior pastor of Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Since becoming pastor, Stackhouse has been blessed to significantly contribute to expanding the church’s positive impact. His tenure at Lewis Chapel has seen remarkable growth, with over 1300 new members joining under his leadership. Lewis Chapel is experiencing a renaissance in almost every aspect. Dr. Stackhouse’s ministry initiatives in mental health, homelessness, food assistance, and education reflect his deep commitment to God and the community.
Beyond his pastoral role, Pastor Stackhouse’s serves on the Fayetteville State University Board of Visitors and previously Morehouse School of Religion Board of Trustees underscore his dedication to higher education and community development. His advocacy for social justice is demonstrated by his tenure as President of Organize Against Racism Cumberland County, delivering the eulogy for George Floyd, and participating in a multitude of other civil rights efforts.
He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
He is the loving father of two sons, and twin daughters. His children are God’s greatest blessing to him.
Dr. Stackhouse’s life is marked by a deep dedication to God, a passion for serving others, and a commitment to inspiring hope and faith in every community he reaches for the cause of Jesus Christ.
A Fayetteville area native, Rev. Clinton David Stackhouse came to Lewis Chapel Raeford with over five decades of pastoral experience. He was ordained as the leader of his first church are the young age of 17.
He has since lead many churches around the country and has been recognized with the Rural Pastor Award from Livingstone College and Hood Theological Seminary. A former employee of the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system, Rev. Stackhouse loves to teach and share knowledge of the faith to all who enter the sanctuary.
He and his wife Renée have been married for 41 years and he has two daughters, two sons, and eleven grandchildren.
Rev. John D Fuller was the pastoral leader of Lewis Chapel Baptist Church for forty-two years.
Under his leadership, the church grew from a humble white-framed building at the corner of Skibo and Raeford roads to the incredible building proudly displayed on Lewis Chapel’s crest. Guided by the Holy Spirit, sound doctrine and built on the principles of tithing, Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church grew to a membership of more than four thousand during his tenure.
In 2003 he expanded the churches community; breaking ground on the Lewis Chapel Family Life Center. In 2005, the $5.3 million facility was dedicated in his name. A strong believer in mentorship, Dr. Fuller helped shepherd more than 60 men and women into ministry.
In 2015 he retired from Lewis Chapel and passed away four years later in 2019.
Rev John D Fuller’s legacy has shaped Lewis Chapel’s past and molded the foundation for its future.
He will be eternally missed.
